The GeoTrust® QuickSSL® Premium SAN (a.k.a GeoTrust Standard DV w/SANs) is a very unique solution designed to save you money if and only if your situation is aligned perfectly with this product's capabilities. All in all, it will secure 4 sub-domains along with the main domain (5 total domains), when issued to: www.mydomain.com. It's important to realize that this product basically acts like a limited wildcard SSL certificate, not a typical multi-domain/SAN product as the name suggests. If used properly, it's an outstanding value because it comes from one of the most popular brand names in the industry and is a domain validation (DV) certificate that can be issued almost immediately. This certificate even includes unlimited server licenses and covers the WWW and non-WWW version of your root domain when using the WWW version of the domain in your CSR!
The GeoTrust® QuickSSL® Premium SAN offers 99+% browser ubiquity with up to 256-bit encryption, and industry-standard 2048-bit CSR encryption. They also provide a lot of bang for your buck with regards to trust by displaying HTTPS and the padlock icon in the browser bar, and a clickable site seal with time-stamped verified information about your domain. This certificate is a cost-effective solution for a mid-level website that only needs to secure a few subdomains and doesn't want to spend the money on a full-blown wildcard solution with unlimited subdomain capabilities. - mydomain.com (included for FREE, doesn't count as additional SAN)
- etc.mydomain.com
- domain1.mydomain.com
- mail.mydomain.com
- cart.mydomain.com
PLEASE NOTE: With this product, if you enroll with WWW in front of your name (i.e. www.yourdomain.com), it will automatically cover the non-WWW version and will not count against your SAN usage. However, if you enroll with the non-WWW version (i.e. yourdomain.com) you will need to use a SAN to cover the WWW version which means you will only have 3 remaining SANs available.
