Domain Validated (DV) SSL Certificates
DV SSL Certs - Simple, fast, and affordable security
Domain Validated SSL Certificates provide the basic, encryption-only meat and potatoes of SSL. Obtaining one is quick and painless. All you have to do is prove that you own the domain you wish to cover, which is done either through a simple email or by placing a file on your server. These certificates come with the industry-standard 128- or 256-bit encryption and are typically issued within just a matter of minutes. They will then activate "https" and the padlock icon in the browser bar. But this convenience is not without some caveats...
Lightning-quick issuance at budget-friendly rates
Since no company information is validated or displayed, a DV certificate can usually be issued in just a few minutes. Also, because the Certificate Authority (CA) doesn't require validation documents at this level, the process has been automated, making these the most affordable options available.
Basic trust indicators
Other than "https" and the padlock icon, DV certificates give little assurance to your web traffic that you're a real, verified business. If you have an e-commerce site, for example, you may want to think about opting for a more premium Organization Validated (OV) or Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate, since these certs activate more trust indicators and will display your verified company details.
Includes a static site seal
DV certs allow you to show protection by a recognized SSL brand with a static seal you place on your site. These are also easy to install but they do not offer the additional trust indicators of real-time security data and "clickability" that come with more premium certs.
Are Domain Validated SSL Certificates what you're looking for?
If you're looking to secure an internal testing domain, mail server, blog, or comparable domain, then DV certificates are the perfect solution for you! Or, if your site depends more on assuring web traffic of your identity and conversions, like an e-commerce site, we would recommend taking a look at our OV and EV first.
